Prostate Ailment Management

Uroflowmetry diagnostics and customized medical therapy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH / Prostate enlargement).

Procedure & Treatment Overview

Management of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

As men age, the prostate gland naturally enlarges, a condition known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). The enlarged prostate presses against the urethra, blocking the normal flow of urine. This causes symptoms such as a weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, frequent urination (especially at night), and the feeling that the bladder is not completely empty.

Our Clinical Approach
  • Uroflowmetry Evaluation: Measuring the volume of urine released, speed of flow, and time taken to diagnose the severity of the obstruction.
  • Post-Void Residual (PVR) Check: Ultrasound assessment to measure the amount of urine left in the bladder after urination, checking for urinary retention.
  • Medical Therapy: Prescribing alpha-blockers (to relax bladder neck muscles) and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (to shrink the prostate gland), relieving symptoms and preventing complications like urinary tract infections (UTIs) or kidney damage.
