Pilonidal Sinus Laser Treatment (EPSiT)

Laser ablation of pilonidal sinus tracts (EPSiT), clearing hair debris with micro-incisions and minimal recurrence.

Procedure & Treatment Overview

Laser Ablation of Pilonidal Sinus (LPSA / EPSiT)

A pilonidal sinus is a small tunnel or cavity in the skin at the top of the buttocks crease (sacrococcygeal area) that often contains hair debris, dirt, and infection. It can swell, form painful abscesses, and discharge pus. Traditional surgery involves wide surgical excision of the entire tissue area, leaving a large cavity that requires daily packing and takes months to heal. Dariyansh Clinic offers laser pilonidal sinus ablation, a minimally invasive alternative.

The Minimally Invasive Laser Procedure

Under local or short general anesthesia, a small opening is used to access the sinus. Specialized micro-instruments (or a small endoscope in EPSiT) are used to clear out all hair debris and infected tissue from the cavity. Once clean, a radial laser fiber is inserted into the sinus tract. The laser energy burns and ablates the inner lining of the tract, causing it to shrink, collapse, and close permanently.

Key Advantages
  • No Wide Excision: No large painful wounds left open, avoiding months of dressing changes.
  • Rapid Healing: Micro-incision heals quickly with minimal scarring.
  • Low Recurrence: Laser energy sterilizes the cavity, reducing the risk of recurrence. Daycare discharge.
