Surgical Wound Debridement & Advanced Wound Care
Healthy tissue cannot grow over dead, infected, or necrotic tissue (slough). For chronic diabetic foot ulcers, surgical debridement is the essential first step to clean the wound bed, control bacterial infection, and prepare the wound for skin grafting or natural closure.
Debridement Process & Techniques
- Sharp Surgical Debridement: Under local or regional block, we surgically remove all dead, non-viable, and infected tissue margins using precision instruments until a healthy, bleeding wound bed is exposed.
- Wound Cleansing: Rinsing the wound thoroughly with sterile solutions to clear debris and biofilm.
- Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) / NPWT: Application of negative pressure wound therapy. A specialized foam dressing is placed over the wound, sealed, and connected to a pump. The negative pressure draws out excess fluid, reduces swelling, limits bacterial growth, and stimulates rapid granulation tissue formation.
Continuous Monitoring
Our clinic provides scheduled dressing checks, offloading counseling, and custom support to manage the wound bed until closure, avoiding complications.
